C6 PFAS Fluorotelomer Fire Fighting Foams |
Under the EPA’s Fire Fighting Chemicals Group Standard 2021, fire fighting foams containing C6 PFAS substances are not permitted after 3 December 2025. However, under clause 21 of the group standard, the use of C6 PFAS foams may be extended if we have granted permission under section 95A of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (HSNO Act). |

C6-AFFF HOFFE Guidance Note has been written to provide information that is relevant to Hand Operated Fire Fighting Equipment (HOFFE) containing C6 Aqueous Film Forming Foams (C6 AFFF) only. This includes portable and wheeled foam fire extinguishers as well as fire hose reels with foam making capabilities. |
